The 2017 IIFA Awards, officially known as the 18th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the International Indian Film Academy honouring the best Hindi films of 2016, are to occur in East Rutherford, New Jersey on 14–15 July 2017. It will be the first time that the awards will be held there.

Neerja is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language biographical thriller film directed by Ram Madhvani . The film features Sonam Kapoor as the title character . The film is shown from the point of view of the flight’s head purser, Neerja Bhanot, who thwarted the hijack attempt by alerting the pilots, thus grounding the plane. She was killed by the hijackers while helping to save 359 of the 379 passengers and crew on board.
