Something that may effect the fame and the film fraternity is the clash of movie release. The reason being there are less of Friday’s and more of movies in the pipe line. Every film maker is striving to scramble the space and earn maximum profit from each film release. But, sometimes they tend to misfit the dates of release and face debacle at the box office due to concussion. Well, some of the movies got sole position of release but had to share the space in the history of Indian Cinema.
Here is the list of biggest box office clashes that you would be stunned to know:
Bajirao Mastani Vs Dilwale
Well, we all know who won the battle here-Bajirao Mastani. But, Mohit Shetty’s Dilwale was expected to ground a good amount of gain but could not make it due to the clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao.
Lagaan Vs Gadar
June 2001, gave us two everlasting hits of the time. We can never get out with the heartthrobing patriotic series of Lagaan and Gadar. Talking about the clash, both did equally well when it comes to profits since Lagaan was nominated in Oscars and Gadar broke all the records at Box-office collection.
Son of Sardar Vs Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgan got into the issues related to their movie release dated 13th November 2013. Although, both of them got a 100 crore stake but Shahrukh’s Jab Tak Hain Jaan raised more love from audience.
Om Shanti Om Vs Saawariya
Shahrukh’s Om Shanti Om was hyped as it was to introduce Deepika Padukone on 9th November, 2007 whereas, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya starring Ranbir and Sonam was to hit theatres on the same day. Judging the movie on the basis of story could be wrong but I guess Sanjay choose the wrong date.
Veer Zara Vs Aitraaz
Can’t compare between the two movies based on their stories, cinematography and direction but to pick from the two, Veer Zara was more successful at box office. Date 12th November 2004 proved to be equally good for both films.
Jaaneman Vs Don
Both the movies kept the release date as 20th October 2006. Though Shahrukh’s Don did not stand upto the expectations of Audience but Jaaneman got a sure shot failure.
Dil Vs Ghayal
Year 1990 brought a good amount of hits probably. But a clash between Ghayal and Dil gave equal scores to both the films. Dil was a romantic release of Aamir and Madhuri whereas Ghayal came across deserving loads of success.
Mohabbatein Vs Mission Kashmir
Needless to say, Mohabbatein was immensely successful with the amazing hold of Shahrukh called as the king of Romance. Mission Kashmir did certainly well but decision to release on the same date was wrong.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Vs Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan
Both the movies released on 16th of October 1998 in theaters. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai made a clean bold and became the highest grossing film of 1998 leaving Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan on 2nd position.
